The Pirates made their final draft signing of the year Monday when they agreed to terms with their 14th-round pick, left-hander Julian Bosnic from the University of South Carolina.

Bosnic did not pitch this year for the Gamecocks because of an injury. In 2021, he had a 4-2 record, four saves, a 2.84 ERA, 78 strikeouts in 50.2 innings and a .133 batting average against in 22 games (four starts).

His parents, Bryan and Cynthia, are Pitt alumni.

The Pirates wound up signing 19 of their 21 draft picks ahead of Monday’s deadline, including their top 12 selection. The two players who did not sign were Mississippi State right-hander KC Hunt (12th round) and North Broward (Fla.) Prep righty Yoel Tejeda (19th).
