The Pittsburgh Pirates have placed reliever Wil Crowe on the 15-day injured list, ending his season.
The move was made prior to Saturday night’s game with the Cardinals in St. Louis. Crowe has right elbow inflammation.
Right-hander Junior Fernandez was recalled from Triple-A Indianapolis.
Crowe finishes the season with a 6-10 record and 4.38 ERA in 60 games, all but one in relief. He had 68 strikeouts in 76 innings and a 1.395 WHIP.
Fernandez pitched six times in relief for Indianapolis after being claimed off waivers from the Cardinals on Sept. 7 and was 1-0 with a 2.25 ERA.
Fernandez made 47 relief appearances with St. Louis in a four-year span from 2019-22. He had a 1-1 record and a 5.51 ERA with 45 strikeouts in 50.2 innings and a 1.737 WHIP.
