Pirates Shut Down Wil Crowe with Elbow Inflammation

The Pittsburgh Pirates have placed reliever Wil Crowe on the 15-day injured list, ending his season.



The move was made prior to Saturday night’s game with the Cardinals in St. Louis. Crowe has right elbow inflammation.

Right-hander Junior Fernandez was recalled from Triple-A Indianapolis.

Crowe finishes the season with a 6-10 record and 4.38 ERA in 60 games, all but one in relief. He had 68 strikeouts in 76 innings and a 1.395 WHIP.

Fernandez pitched six times in relief for Indianapolis after being claimed off waivers from the Cardinals on Sept. 7 and was 1-0 with a 2.25 ERA.

Fernandez made 47 relief appearances with St. Louis in a four-year span from 2019-22. He had a 1-1 record and a 5.51 ERA with 45 strikeouts in 50.2 innings and a 1.737 WHIP.
