Pirates Roster Moves: Triolo Optioned, Gorski DFA’d to Make Room for Reliever

The Pittsburgh Pirates optioned infielder Jared Triolo to Triple-A Indianapolis and designated outfielder/first baseman Matt Gorski for assignment. Both moves were to make room for right-hander Yohan Ramírez, who was selected from Triple-A Indianapolis.
While Triolo has again provided quality defense around the infield this season, he’s struggled at the plate. In 55 games, the 27-year-old has hit .158 with a .519 OPS, six doubles, three home runs, 10 RBI and five stolen bases. He was stuck in a 1-for-22 slump prior to being optioned.
Gorski made his big-league debut with the Pirates earlier this season and played in 15 games. The 27-year-old hit .195 with a .605 OPS, one triple, two home runs and four RBI.
A stint on the 60-day injured limited Gorski to 22 games with Indianapolis this season, where he slashed .278/.318/.519 with seven doubles, four home runs and 15 RBI.
Ramírez, who totaled 48 games with the Pirates from 2022-23, returned to the organization on a minor-league deal this offseason.
In 27 games with Indianapolis this season, Ramírez went 2-1 with a 3.19 ERA in 27 games. Across 31 innings, he allowed 27 hits, walked 12 and struck out 41. He was tied for third in the International League with seven saves at the time of his promotion.
Additionally, Ryan Borucki (low back inflammation) had he rehab transferred from Low-A Bradenton to Indianapolis.
