Pirates Roster Moves: Simon, Sisk Recalled; Suwinski Lands on IL

Jack Suwinski, Pittsburgh Pirates

The Pittsburgh Pirates have recalled outfielder Ronny Simon and left-handed pitcher Evan Sisk from Triple-A Indianapolis. They take the spots of outfielder Jack Suwinski, who was placed on the 10-day injured list with a right groin strain and right-handed reliever Kyle Nicolas, who was placed on the Major League Bereavement/Family Medical Emergency List.

Simon made his Pirates debut earlier this month and went on to hit .233 with a .517 OPS, one double, a pair of RBI and a stolen base across seven games. He was claimed off waivers from the Miami Marlins earlier this season.

In 54 games with Indianapolis, the 25-year-old slashed .284/.381/.436 with nine doubles, a triple, seven home runs, 30 RBI and 24 stolen bases.

Sisk totaled four appearances in his first stint with the Pirates earlier this month after he was acquired from the Kansas City Royals in the deal for Bailey Falter. In those four games, Sisk went 1-1 and allowed three runs on three hits with one walk and four strikeouts in 3.1 innings.

Suwinski’s played in 48 games with the Pirates this season and has a .132/.286/.240 batting line with four doubles, three home runs, eight RBI and six stolen bases.

Nicolas has bounced between Indianapolis and Pittsburgh this season and is 1-0 with a 5.14 ERA across 21 games.
