Pirates Roster Moves: Ji Hwan Bae Recalled From Indy

The Pittsburgh Pirates have recalled outfielder Ji Hwan Bae from Triple-A Indianapolis ahead of Sunday’s game against the Milwaukee Brewers. Bae is in the Pirates’ starting lineup and will play left field.

To make room for him on the active roster, infielder/outfielder Ryan Kreidler was optioned to Indianapolis.

Bae totaled seven games with the Pirates earlier this season and went 1 for 11 with a walk, a pair of stolen bases and three runs scored. In parts of four seasons with Pittsburgh, the 26-year-old carries a .228/.293/.299 batting line with 22 doubles, two triples, two home runs, 44 RBI and 35 stolen bases across 157 games.

In 64 games at Triple-A, Bae slashed .282/.377/.411 17 doubles, six triples, one home run, 20 RBI and 23 steals.

Kreidler was recalled by the Pirates on Aug. 31 but did not appear in a game. The Pirates claimed the 27-year-old from the Detroit Tigers on Aug. 24.

Kreidler played in 17 games with Detroit earlier this season and hit .105 with four runs. In 88 games in Triple-A this season, the right-handed hitter has slashed .248/.367/.413 with 26 doubles, four triples, five home runs, 38 RBI and 13 steals.
