The Pittsburgh Pirates have recalled catcher Henry Davis from Triple-A Indianapolis.

Davis began the 2025 season with Indianapolis and slashed .286/.355/.393 with three doubles, a pair of RBIs and two stolen bases.

On Friday night against the Louisville Bats, he went 2 for 4 with two doubles, an RBI and two runs scored. In his last three games, Davis has six hits in 12 at-bats.

Davis has been impressive at Triple-A throughout his career and will now look to translate his success to the big leagues. In 79 career games with Indianapolis, Davis has slashed .316/.417/.548 with 21 doubles, 15 home runs and 50 RBIs.

Davis will bat ninth and will be the battery mate of Andrew Heaney for the Pirates against the Cincinnati Reds on Saturday night. He will wear No. 32.

To make room on the active roster, the Pirates optioned right-handed relief pitcher Chase Shugart Indianapolis.

Shugart made three scoreless appearances out of the bullpen after getting recalled on Sunday. In 3.2 innings, he allowed two hits, walked two and struck out two. Prior to getting recalled, he had one scoreless outing with Indianapolis.
