The Pittsburgh Pirates have returned infielder Termarr Johnson, their 2022 first-round pick, to minor league camp. At 18 years old, Johnson was the youngest player in the Pirates’ camp this spring.

The Pirates made Johnson the fourth overall pick in last year’s draft out of Mays High School in Atlanta, Georgia.

Johnson had been recently sidelined with a right hamstring strain, keeping him out of action for 10-14 days, per director of sports medicine Todd Tomczyk.

After being the Pirates’ top draft choice a year ago, Johnson combined to slash .222/.366/.365 with six doubles, a home run and six steals in 23 games between the FCL Pirates and Low-A Bradenton.

Johnson ranks as the 26th-best prospect in baseball by MLB Pipeline.

The Pirates’ big league camp now consists of 66 players.
