Yerry De Los Santos-Pittsburgh Pirates

Pirates reliever Yerry De Los Santos’ rookie season is effectively over after being placed on the 60-day injured list.

De Los Santos has a right shoulder latissimus dorsi strain. The Pirates made the move before playing the Giants on Friday night in the opener of a three-game series in San Francisco.

Right-hander Austin Brice’s contract was selected from Triple-A Indianapolis.

De Los Santos pitched in Thursday’s loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks in Phoenix. He did not record an out while facing five batters as he walked three and allowed two hits.

In 26 games for the Pirates, the 24-year-old De Los Santos went 0-3 with a 4.91 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 26 strikeouts in 25.2 innings.

Brice, 30, made two relief appearances for the Pirates earlier in the season and gave up two runs in 3.2 innings. At Indianapolis, he had a 2-3 record, six saves, a 4.41 ERA, a 1.21 WHIP and 41 punchouts in 34.2 innings.
