Pirates Recall Rodolfo Castro, Send Down Cal Mitchell

The Pittsburgh Pirates recalled infielder Rodolfo Castro from Triple-A Indianapolis on Tuesday night and optioned outfielder Cal Mitchell to the same club.

Castro was in the Pirates’ starting lineup at second base for their game against the Arizona Diamondbacks in Phoenix.

In 21 games with the Pirates earlier this season, the 23-year-old Castro hit .197/.269/.296 with one home run. He batted .246/.334/.441 with 12 home runs in 75 games at Indianapolis.

Mitchell, a rookie, had a .204/.241/.336 slash line in 44 games for the Pirates while hitting four homers.
