Pirates Recall Phillip Evans, Option Max Kranick to Indianapolis

The Pirates announced that Phillip Evans has been recalled from Triple-A Indianapolis and Max Kranick has been optioned to Triple-A.

In 72 games with the Pirates this season, Evans is hitting .208 with a .618 OPS and has launched five home runs.

He was optioned to Triple-A on Aug. 7. In 23 games with Indianapolis this year, Evans hit .280 with a .719 OPS.

Kranick started Wednesday night’s game against the White Sox. He pitched 4.2 innings and allowed five runs on eight hits. In six starts with the Pirates this season, Kranick is 1-3 with a 7.66 ERA in 24.2 innings of work.
