The Pirates announced they right-handed pitcher Max Kranick has been recalled from Triple-A Indianapolis and fellow righty Shelby Miller has had his contract selected as part of September’s expanded rosters. Kranick will start for the Pirates Wednesday night against the White Sox.

In five starts for the Pirates this season, Kranick is 1-2 with a 7.20 ERA and a 4.16 FIP in 20 innings of work.

Miller was signed by the Pirates on July 1 after he was let go by the Chicago Cubs. In 14 innings with Indianapolis, Miller went 2-1 with a 3.86 ERA/1.80 FIP. He struck out 22 batters.

Miller has pitched nine seasons in the big leagues with the Cardinals, Braves, Diamondbacks, Rangers and Cubs. His best season came with Atlanta in 2015 when he was named a National League All-Star.

Miller will wear #50 for Pittsburgh.
