Pirates Prospects

Day in and day out, there are several Pirates prospects vying for attention from fans and the front office. Tuesday night, several Pirates prospects earned the crown of players of the night like Anthony Solometo and Travis Swaggerty. Which Pirates prospect earned it on Wednesday night?

Let’s go down on the farm and see who was cooking with fire!

Indianapolis Indians Doubleheader

OF Jack Suwinski

  • Doubleheader: 3 for 7 with two RBIs and a homer
  • Season: .288 average with an OPS of .997 and 12 RBIs

DH/1B Mason Martin

  • Doubleheader: 4 for 6 with an RBI and a double.
  • Season: .201 average with a .689 OPS and 57 RBIs

Indianapolis split its doubleheader with Toledo. Indianapolis won 4-3 in game one with a walk-off double from Martin. Toledo won game two by a score of 9-6, though Suwinski hit a homer and Martin went 2 for 3.

Altoona Curve

INF Jared Triolo

  • Game: 2 for 4 with an RBI triple
  • Season: .272 average with a .742 OPS and 31 RBIs

RHP Tyler Samaniego

  • Game: two innings pitched, one hit, no runs, no walks, and one strikeout
  • Season: 22.2 innings pitched, 12 hits, five walks, 20 strikeouts, and an ERA of 2.78

Altoona fell to Akron 4-2. Triolo and Blake Sabol were the only batters with RBIs, and Triolo was the only batter with more than one hit. Samaniego kept Altoona in the game, but it wasn’t enough.

Greensboro Grasshoppers

C/INF/OF Endy Rodriguez

  • Game: 5 for 5 with a double and a home run
  • Season: .305 average with an OPS of .950 and 55 RBIs

OF Hudson Head

  • Game: 3 for 5 with a homer
  • Season: .232 average with an OPS of .731 and 35 RBIs

You can’t get much better than 5 for 5, and that’s exactly what Rodriguez did for Greensboro in a victory over Bowling Green by the score of 8-7.

Bradenton Marauders

INF/OF Jase Bowen

  • Game: 1 for 3 with an RBI double
  • Season: .280 average with an OPS of .812 and 61 RBIs

INF Juan Jerez

  • Game: 1 for 2 with a homer
  • Season: .211 average with an OPS of .640 and 29 RBIs

Due to inclement weather, the Bradenton game started late and was shortened to seven innings. Bradenton fell to Fort Myers 3-2, but Bowen continued to show progress.
