Pirates Prospect Watch: Termarr Johnson Hits Third Homer

For the third time this season, Pittsburgh Pirates prospect Termarr Johnson homered for the Bradenton Marauders.

The blast was an impressive one for the 2022 first-rounder, measuring over 400 feet and registering an exit velocity of 11.6 mph.

Johnson also drew a pair of walks in the game 31 free passes in 155 plate appearances — good for a walk rate of an impressive 20%.

While Johnson’s talents were on display, a number of other Pirates’ prospects also played well.

Indianapolis (28-33)

C Abrahan Gutierrez

  • Game stats: 2 for 4, one home run, two RBIs, one run
  • Season stats: .222/.263/.500, two doubles, one home run, two RBIs, five games

RHP Travis MacGregor

  • Game stats: 3.0 innings, two hits, no runs, no walks, five strikeouts
  • Season stats: 4-0, 1.83 ERA, 7er/34.1ip, 29 hits, 13 walks, 45 strikeouts, 16 appearances/one start

Gutierrez’s homer along with three dominant innings from MacGregor helped lead Altoona to a 5-4 win over the Richmond Flying Squirrels in 10 innings.

Pirates prospect Connor Scott doubled as part of a two-hit performance. Mason Martin also had a pair of hits in the win.

Greensboro (31-24)

LHP Anthony Solometo

  • Game stats: 4.0 innings, five hits, no runs, no walks, seven strikeouts
  • Season stats: 2-3, 2.30 ERA, 15er/58.2ip, 43 hits, 25 walks, 68 strikeouts, 12 appearances/12 starts

RF Sammy Siani

  • Game stats: 1 for 3, one home run, two RBIs, one run
  • Season stats: .229/.354/.405, five doubles, six home runs, 21 RBIs, 11 steals, 40 games

Solometo looked impressive on the mound and Siani went deep for Greensboro in their 6-3 win over the Wilmington Blue Rocks.

Pirates prospect Shawn Ross also homered while Grant Ford improved to 4-0 on the season after earning the win.

Bradenton (30-27)

DH Nick Cimillo

  • Game stats: 2 for 3, one home run, one double, three RBIs, one run
  • Season stats: .261/.400/.536, five doubles, one triple, four home runs, 12 RBIs. 24 games

1B Alexander Mojica

  • Game stats: 2 for 4, one home run, two RBIs, one run
  • Season stats: .217/.341/.362, eight doubles, four home runs, 20 RBIs, two steals, 41 games

In addition to Johnson, Cimillo and Mojica both homered, but Bradenton fell 9-8 in 10 innings to the Dunedin Blue Jays.

Pirates prospect Shalin Polanco went 2 for 5 with a run scored and a stolen base.
