Pittsburgh Pirates prospect Jared Triolo recently returned from the injured list and began a rehab assignment with Low-A Bradenton. Triolo, who underwent hamate surgery, had been sidelined since the start of the season.

Ever since he’s been back in action, Triolo has been locked in at the plate and that continued on Sunday as the infielder reached base four times and collected three hits.

Triolo, who has one of the best gloves in the Pirates’ minor league system, has turned into a pretty reliable presence at the plate as well.

In addition to Triolo, here are the Pirates’ prospects of note from Sunday.

Indianapolis (15-17)

1B Aaron Shackelford

  • Game stats: 2 for 3, one RBI, two runs, two walks, one steal
  • Season stats: .301/.441/.534, six doubles, one triple, three home runs, eight RBIs, four steals, 24 games

LF Ryan Vilade

  • Game stats:  1 for 5, one home run, one RBI, one run
  • Season stats: .282/.358/.437, two doubles, three home runs, nine RBIs, 18 games

The Indians won again thanks in part to Shackelford’s contributions and Vilade’s home run.

Pirates prospect Josh Bissonette was on base twice and drove in two. On the mound, Colin Selby tossed a pair of perfect innings of relief with four strikeouts.

Altoona (13-12)

RHP Travis MacGregor

  • Game stats: 3.0 innings, two hits, no runs, one walk, four strikeouts
  • Season stats: 3-0, 2.20 ERA, 4er/16.1ip, 15 hits, five walks, 22 strikeouts, seven appearances

DH Fabricio Macias

  • Game stats: 2 for 4
  • Season stats: .292/.333/.417, one home run, three RBIs, one steal, nine games

MacGregor continued to look good out of the bullpen for the Curve and Macias had a pair of hits but Altoona was defeated 4-1 by the Richmond Flying Squirrels.

Pirates prospect Domingo Leyba doubled but left the game early after two at-bats.

Greensboro (16-11)

LF Sammy Siani

  • Game stats: 1 for 2, one home run, three RBIs, one run, two walks, one steal
  • Season stats: .298/.412/.456, three doubles, two home runs, nine RBIs, eight steals, 18 games

2B Maikol Escotto

  • Game stats: 2 for 4, one home run, one RBI, two runs
  • Season stats: .218/.284/.346, one double, three home runs, 12 RBIs, three steals, 23 games

Siani has been rolling at the plate for Greensboro and Escotto joined him in the home run department as the Grasshoppers took down the Winston-Salem Dash 8-7.

Pirates prospects Mike Jarvis and Tres Gonzalez each drove in a pair of runs.

Bradenton (16-11)

3B Jared Triolo

  • Game stats: 3 for 4, two doubles, one RBI, three runs, one walk
  • Season stats: .438/.500/.688, four doubles, four RBIs, four games

LF Rodolfo Nolasco

  • Game stats: 2 for 2, one double, two RBIs, three walks
  • Season stats: .289/.413/.553, seven doubles, one home run, nine RBIs, one steal, 11 games

While both Triolo and Nolasco had big games at the plate, it wasn’t enough for Bradenton in their 10-7 loss to the Tampa Tarpons.

Pirates’ prospect Jesus Castillo was on base three times, stole two bases, scored twice and drove in a run. Outfielder Enmanuel Terrero had two more hits and a pair of RBIs.
