Pirates Prospect Nick Gonzales on Fire for the Month of August
The month of August tests a baseball player’s mental fortitude and can be a test of endurance and resilience. Some fall to the wayside while others rise to the occasion and perform above and beyond the call of duty. One player that has risen to the call is 2020 first-round pick Nick Gonzales, in High-A Greensboro.

For August, Gonzales has a slash line of .353/.411/.706, and his OPS is through the roof at 1.117. Those numbers are just the cherry on top of this wonderful sundae; Gonzales has eight home runs, 21 runs driven in, one triple, and ten doubles and has a total of 72 bases. Gonzales has been heating up and is most likely primed to see Altoona in 2022.

One word of caution that you need to know with Gonzales is that the majority of his games in August were at home in Greensboro. As you all know, First National Bank Field is a hitters paradise and could be part of the reason to his surge.
