Diego Castillo, acquired in the Clay Holmes trade with the Yankees, has been promoted from Double-A Altoona to Triple-A Indianapolis.

In 28 games with the Curve, Castillo, 23,  slashed .282/.342/.445 with five homers and 16 RBIs in 28 games. In 121 plate appearances, he only struck out nine times, while drawing 10 walks.

Over 86 games at Double-A in 2021 between the Yankees and Pirates, the infielder has an .829 OPS with 21 doubles, 16 home runs and nine stolen bases. For his minor league career, Castillo is a .270 hitter over six seasons.

This year has been a breakout year for Castillo, especially in the power department. Fangrpahs lists him as the Pirates’ 22nd best prospect.
