Pirates Preview: Father’s Day Rubber Match in Colorado
The Pittsburgh Pirates were crushed 16-4 against the Colorado Rockies on Saturday night.
Starting pitcher Jared Jones and a host of relievers were shelled in the loss. On offense, Andrew McCutchen hit his 10th homer of the season and Nick Gonzales also went deep.
The Pirates (33-37) will attempt to pick up a series win on Sunday afternoon against the Rockies (25-45). Happy Father’s Day to all the dads reading!
First pitch is set for 3:10 ET and the game will be aired on SportsNet Pittsburgh.

The Pittsburgh Pirates Will Send Out LHP Josh Fleming (1-1, 5.68 ERA)
This will be Fleming’s second start of the season and his first appearance since the Pirates added him to the active roster.
His other start came on Apr. 24 against the Brewers, when he allowed a pair of unearned runs in 2.1 innings.
Fleming is a ground ball specialist with over 55% of balls put in play on the ground.
This will be Fleming’s first time facing the Rockies.
The Colorado Rockies Will Send Out RHP Dakota Hudson (2-8, 4.87 ERA)
Hudson was solid in his last outing against the Twins. The right-hander allowed two runs (one earned) on four hits in 6.2 innings pitched.
Over his last four starts, Hudson has a 3.00 ERA and has held opponents to a .214 batting average.
Hudson has really struggled pitching at Coors Field this season. In six starts, he’s 0-3 with a 7.57 ERA and has issued more walks (20) than strikeouts recorded (17).
In 11 appearances against Pittsburgh, Hudson is 2-1 with a 4.82 ERA.
