Pirates Postgame: Pirates Lose 7-5 In The Game Of Exit Velocities

Published

on

Today was a battle of exit velocity and which club could persevere through it. Both Bryse Wilson and Corbin Burnes were giving up really hard hit balls that were luckily being caught by each teams defense. Until they weren’t.

The third inning unraveled for Bryse Wilson as he gave up four straight hard hits which lead to his departure and the 3-0 deficit. It wasn’t long until it caught with Burnes as well. Newman, Marcano, and Delay each got hits which was then capitalized on a 3-run 117mph home run by Oneil Cruz that provided the Pirates with the lead. Sadly, there was a lot of criticism for salivating about Cruz’s three 113MPH+ hit baseballs tonight and DiNardo has some words for those people.

It was also another display of why Rodolfo Castro has been so darn intriguing recently. The tools have been screaming during his latest stretch which now question if things are slowly starting to come together for him? DiNardo talks through if the extremely athletic and talented middle infield of Cruz and Castro could be for 2023.

Lastly, Wil Crowe took the loss in today’s game and did not look effective. Regardless of all those stats and numbers to tell you that Crowe isn’t a good pitcher, I’m here to tell you just why you should ignore that and not blame Wil for what his end of season numbers are about to look like.
