The Pirates announced that David Bednar has been placed on the 10-day injured list with a right oblique strain (retroactive to 9/11). To take his spot on the roster, Enyel De Los Santos has been recalled from Triple-A Indianapolis.

On the year, Bednar has emerged as a key piece of the Pirates’ bullpen, going 3-1 with a 2.18 ERA and three saves in 57.2 innings of work.

De Los Santos, claimed off waivers from the Phillies on Monday, will be inserted into the Bucs’ bullpen.

In 26 appearances with Philadelphia, De Los Santos has pitched 28 innings with a 6.75 ERA and 42 strikeouts. He posted a record of 1-1.

De Los Santos will wear #62 for the Pirates.
