The Pirates announced today that RHP Cody Ponce has been optioned to Triple-A Indianapolis.

Additionally, first baseman John Nogowski and outfielder Ka’ai Tom have been outrighted to Indy.

In 22.2 innings this year with the Pirates, Ponce is 0-3 with an 8.34 ERA in eight appearances (two starts).

Nogowski and Tom were both DFA’d on August 16, but both will now remain in the Pirates organization.

Nogowski hit .233 with a .611 OPS with the Pirates in 33 games after being acquired from St. Louis. Tom hit just .152 with a .569 OPS with the Bucs after coming over from the Oakland A’s.

The Pirates active roster is now at 25, so a corresponding move should be announced before tomorrow’s game.
