Pirates Minor League Report: Triple-A Reliever Having DOMINANT Stretch, Griffin Somehow Getting Better?

It’s now early September and has felt more like fall with a crispness in the air, but Triple-A Indianapolis reliever Brandon Bidois is as hot as the middle of summer — when his current unbelievable streak began.
Bidois has had an excellent season across four levels of the minor leagues. In 36 combined appearances, the right-hander is a perfect 8-0 with a 0.81 ERA and 64 strikeouts in 55.2 innings. Bidois has only allowed 21 hits on the season, and none since July 29.
You probably had to read that again, but don’t worry, you read that right. The 24-year-old has faced 57 straight batters without allowing a base hit. In five appearances since his promotion to Triple-A Indianapolis, he’s tossed 7.2-hitless innings with 10 strikeouts. Promotion incoming? Maybe by the end of the season.
While Bidois might not be the most recognizable name in the Pirates’ system, the biggest star continues to shine. With Double-A Altoona, who just clinched its first postseason appearance since 2018, top prospect Konnor Griffin continues to sizzle.
The 19-year-old is riding a 14-game on-base streak with the Curve and is batting .353 (18 for 51) with a 1.104 OPS, two doubles, four home runs and 17 RBI. His 18 RBI since making his Altoona debut on Aug. 19 are tied for the most in the Eastern League. Griffin has 65 steals this season and is the first Pirates’ prospect with 60-plus steals in a year since Pedro Powell (67) in 2007. This kid continues to wow with no signs of slowing down.
The Altoona Curve weren’t the only ones to clinch a postseason berth. High-A Greensboro is headed back to the playoffs for a second straight year and finished the regular season with 88 wins, their most since 2005.
Callan Moss, who was acquired from the Kansas City Royals at the trade deadline for Bailey Falter, was named the South Atlantic League Player of the Month for August. In 30 games with the Grasshoppers since joining the organization, the 22-year-old is slashing .339/.422/.571 with eight doubles, six home runs, 19 RBI and three steals.
He led the league in batting average, on-base percentage, slugging and OPS since he was acquired by the Pirates.
Low-A Bradenton’s season came to an end, and outfielder Edward Florentino, who is a new entrant in MLB Pipeline’s top 100 prospects, finished the year with a 12-game on-base streak. In 52 games with Bradenton after his promotion from the FCL, the 18-year-old slashed .262/.380/.503 with 17 doubles, 10 home runs, 36 RBI and 29 steals.
