Pirates Minor League Report: Termarr Johnson Ending Slump?
Pirates’ affiliates picked up three wins on Sunday, with a potential turnaround from 2022 first round pick Termarr Johnson among the highlights.
Triple-A Indianapolis eked out a 7-6 win over the St. Paul Saints, with a Henry Davis homer tying the game in the eighth before Matt Gorski walked it off with another homer, his third extra base hit of the day.
Right-handed starter Po-Yu Chen managed just two innings in Altoona’s 6-2 loss to the Bowie Baysox: that marks the third straight early exit for the typically durable 22-year-old.
Greensboro took down the Bowling Green Hot Rods 7-5 on the strength of homers from 2022 first round pick Termarr Johnson and Hudson Head, with the former showing signs of breaking out of his August slump.
Bradenton pulled out a 2-1 win over the Dunedin Blue Jays, sparked by 4.2 strong innings from Connor Oliver, the 23-year-old left-hander who the Pirates picked up in return for Colin Selby earlier this season. Keiner Delgado, who has cooled off considerably since a torrid stretch when Pittsburgh first acquired him from the Yankees, added a single and a walk.
