Pirates Minor League Report: Reed, Perachi Mow Through Lineups
Pirates’ affiliates played three games on Wednesday, with excellent starts from a pair of young pitchers serving as the headliner.
Altoona got knocked around in an 11-6 loss to the Akron Rubber Ducks despite three-hit games from Charles McAdoo and Yoyner Fajardo.
The Greensboro Grasshoppers fell 6-1 to the Jersey Shore BlueClaws after their bullpen imploded, spoiling six innings of one-run ball from left-hander Dominic Perachi.
Bradenton defeated the Clearwater Threshers 8-7 in ten innings, allowing six runs in the ninth inning before hanging on to win by the skin of their teeth. Carlson Reed pitched yet another quality start, fanning eight batters in the process, while Shalin Polanco, Javier Rivas and Axiel Plaz all homered.
