Pirates Minor League Report: Reed, Harrington Still Settling In
Pirates affiliates went 2-3 on Saturday, with pitching prospects like Carlson Reed and Thomas Harrington continuing to settle in after recent promotions.
Triple-A Indianapolis suffered a 3-0 shutout, with Harrington, the third-ranked Pirates’ right-hander tagged for two runs in 4.2 innings during his second start at the level.
The Altoona Curve lost 10-4 to the Portland Sea Dogs, melting down and allowing ten runs in the sixth inning.
Greensboro split their doubleheader with the Rome Emperors. Reed—who isn’t yet on the top thirty prospects list but probably should be—went five innings, striking out seven without allowing an earned run, but a defensive miscue with two outs in the first turned into a four-run rally for their opponents. Hudson Head and Josiah Sightler added home runs.
The Marauders took down the St. Lucie Mets 4-1 as a three-run bomb from Javier Rivas proved the difference.
