Pirates Minor League Report: Mike Burrows Ends Season On High Note

Triple-A Indianapolis concluded the Pirates’ minor league season on Sunday with a 9-4 win over the St. Paul Saints. Although he allowed three earned runs, Pirates’ No. 16 prospect Mike Burrows set season highs with five innings pitched, ten strikeouts and 91 pitches thrown, an important step in his recovery from Tommy John surgery. He also picked up his first win of the season in 16 appearances.



Shortstop Tsung-Che Cheng picked up three singles and drew a walk, boosting his on-base percentage to .588 in six games with Indianapolis. Ji-hwan Bae, Matt Gorski and Seth Beer all homered to cement the win.

Here are the stats from the final Pirates minor league report of the 2024 season.

Triple-A Indianapolis (77-70)

SS Tsung-Che Cheng

  • Game: 3-for-4 with a walk.
  • Season: .225/.329/.347 with 20 doubles and 11 homers in 132 games between Altoona and Indianapolis.

RHP Mike Burrows

  • Game: 5 IP, 3 ER, 10 K’s.
  • Season: 51.1 IP, 5.26 ERA, 59 K’s in 16 appearances (15 starts) throughout the Pirates’ system.
