Pirates 2024 first round pick Konnor Griffin earned his long awaited promotion to High-A after picking up 13 hits in 23 at-bats last week, adding a home run, a double and two walks for good measure.

Bats from last year’s draft excelled throughout the week with Wyatt Sanford, another prep pick who came off the board in the second round, making his Single-A debut and slashing .364/.440/.773 with eight hits, three home runs and two walks in five games.

Will Taylor, a fifth round pick out of Clemson in 2024, added a seven RBI game on Sunday, June 8 with two home runs and a double, following up a two homer game from Sanford the previous day. Taylor also earned a promotion to Greensboro for his trouble.

Termarr Johnson hit his seventh home run of the season in the second game of a Saturday doubleheader, the first of which saw the Altoona Curve no-hit (albeit in seven innings).

On the mound, Thomas Harrington made a pair of quality starts for Indianapolis, including six shutout frames on June 8. Other Triple-A arms had a rough go of it, with Bubba Chandler getting the hook after two innings, three runs and 49 pitches on June 5, while Hunter Barco showed that he too is human after allowing four runs in four innings the following day.

Other noteworthy pitching performances include Antwone Kelly, who continues to succeed in hitter-friendly Greensboro, fanning seven batters across six innings of one-run ball, and Connor Wietgrefe, who struck out five in five innings as he continues to adjust to High-A. Carlson Reed built up to 63 pitches in his second start of the season, allowing two earned runs in 3.1 innings.
