Pirates Minor League Report: Harrington Strikes Out Ten
Despite playing parts of five games, Pirates’ affiliates went winless on Saturday. Even with the ugly final results, plenty of young prospects enjoyed excellent games.
Triple-A Indianapolis lost 7-4 to the Omaha Storm Chasers, with Ryan Borucki roughed up for four runs over two outs as he continues to work his way back from a tricep injury.
Altoona fell 2-1 to the Somerset Patriots via walkoff, spoiling a spectacular outing from Thomas Harrington. The 23-year-old right-hander, a 2022 Pirates’ draft pick, punched out ten batters in six innings, but it wasn’t enough for the win.
Greensboro, meanwhile, lost 7-3 to the Hickory Crawdads after Derek Diamond got knocked around early. The Bradenton Marauders managed just one run in 12 innings at the plate, with Shalin Polanco’s ninth-inning homer averting a shutout loss in the resumption of Friday’s suspended game. They still lost via walk off the following inning, though, before getting blanked 7-0 in the nightcap.
