Pirates Minor League Report: Five Scoreless for Thomas Harrington

Pirates’ affiliates picked up three wins on Sunday, highlighted with a shutdown performance from Thomas Harrington, the organization’s No. 5 prospect per MLB Pipeline.



Triple-A Indianapolis put just four runners on base in their 5-0 loss to the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp.

Thomas Harrington got the start for the Altoona Curve, striking out five batters and allowing just one hit in five innings of work.

The Greensboro Grasshoppers put the hurt on the Winston-Salem Dash in a 12-4 win. Lonnie White Jr. and Shawn Ross homered, each recording three hits. Charles McAdoo and Mitch Jebb also reached base three times, with McAdoo finishing a homer shy of the cycle.

Axiel Plaz homered to tie the game in the ninth inning for the Bradenton Marauders, then Javier Rivas and Jeral Toledo doubled to notch the eventual game-winner in a 4-3 decision.

Here are some of the top performances from the Pirates’ minor leaguers to round out the week.

Triple-A Indianapolis (29-38)

DH Joshua Palacios

  • Game: 2-for-4 with 2 singles.
  • Season: .263/.325/.447 with 5 doubles and 3 homers in 22 rehab assignment games.

Double-A Altoona (24-39)

RHP Thomas Harrington

  • Game: 5 IP, 0 ER and 5 K’s.
  • Season: 34.2 IP, 2.86 ERA, 36 K’s in 8 appearances (7 starts) between Bradenton and Altoona.

DH Yoyner Fajardo

  • Game: 2-for-4 with a double and a walk.
  • Season: .250/.297/.360 with 3 doubles and 4 homers in 42 games between Altoona and Triple-A Saint Paul (Twins’ affiliate).

High-A Greensboro (36-26)

CF Lonnie White Jr.

  • Game: 3-for-4 with a homer and a walk.
  • Season: .171/.270/.389 with 6 doubles, a triple and 10 homers in 46 games.

C Shawn Ross

  • Game: 3-for-5 with a homer.
  • Season: .192/.378/.525 with 4 doubles and 12 homers in 39 games.

Single-A Bradenton (28-35)

SS Keiner Delgado

  • Game: 2-for-2 with a triple and 2 walks.
  • Season: .248/.326/.434 with 5 doubles, 2 triples and 5 homers in 34 games between rookie ball and Bradenton.

C Axiel Plaz

  • Game: 2-for-4 with a homer.
  • Season: .218/.311/.425 with 3 doubles and 5 homers in 29 games between rookie ball and Bradenton.
