Pirates Minor League Report: Double-A Challenging Termarr Johnson
The promotion to Double-A hasn’t gone smoothly for Pirates’ 2022 first round pick Termarr Johnson, who went 0-for-3 on Thursday night, dropping his triple slash line to .069/.200/.172 in nine games with Altoona.
The 20-year-old did manage to come up clutch for the Curve, however, knocking in a run via sacrifice fly in the eighth inning. Altoona went on to slip past the Hartford Yard Goats 3-2 on a ninth-inning homer from third baseman Brenden Dixon. Right-handed starter Po-Yu Chen pitched three innings, leaving after just 50 pitches and a pair of earned runs allowed.
Triple-A Indianapolis lost 3-2 to the Toledo Mud Hens, never getting a chance to complete a comeback after the game was called in the eighth inning due to inclement weather. 2022 compensatory pick Thomas Harrington allowed two runs in six innings, continuing to pitch well in Triple-A after getting roughed up during his first two starts with Indianapolis.
Greensboro put up three runs in the eighth on the way to a comeback win over Bowling Green: two of them came off the bat of P.J. Hilson, who pulled the go-ahead homer to left.
Bradenton, meanwhile, saw their game postponed due to rain.
