Pirates Minor League Report: Bubba Chandler Still On Fire
Pirates’ affiliates won each of the three games they played on Wednesday, spurred by Bubba Chandler’s third consecutive start pitching into the seventh inning.
Chandler—one of the Pirates’ two Futures Game selections—kicked off Altoona’s 3-0 shutout of the Harrisburg Senators, striking out seven batters and allowing just two baserunners, neither of which made it past first. He went on to complete 7.2 innings, doing so on an efficient 97 pitches.
The Greensboro Grasshoppers outlasted the Aberdeen IronBirds 6-5 in ten innings, managing just five hits (all singles) but walking ten times to help spur their offense. Termarr Johnson, Mitch Jebb and Nick Cimillo each drew multiple free passes.
The Bradenton Marauders defeated the Fort Myers Mighty Mussels 10-5, helped in part by homers from Axiel Plaz and Miguel Sosa.
Triple-A Indianapolis saw their game against the Louisville Bats postponed due to rain, with a makeup date unannounced as of yet.
