Pirates Farm System
Pirates Minor League Report: Bubba Chandler Back from IL
Pirates’ farmhands picked up two wins on Wednesday, with Bubba Chandler making his return to the starting rotation after injury troubles.
Chandler ended up missing just one start, a heartening sign after dealing with forearm tightness. He allowed two solo home runs across four innings of work as the Curve lost 6-2 to the Portland Sea Dogs.
Triple-A Indianapolis fell 8-2 to the Omaha Storm Chasers, with Michael Plassmeyer shelled for eight runs in 3.2 innings and the offense unable to catch up from that deficit.
Things went better for the lower rungs of the Pirates’ system, with the Greensboro Grasshoppers slugging three home runs in a 12-3 win over the Asheville Tourists. Jack Brannigan, Mitch Jebb and Hudson Head all cleared the fences, while Derek Diamond contributed five innings of one-run ball, striking out seven batters.
The Bradenton Marauders closed out the slate with a 3-2 win, putting up a three spot off the bat of Braylon Bishop that was enough to secure victory.
Here’s a look at how Pittsburgh’s minor leaguers performed on Wednesday night.
