Pirates director of sports medicine Todd Tomczyk provided updates on multiple Pirates currently on the shelf with injuries.

Right-handed pitcher Duane Underwood Jr. threw a side session on Monday in Milwaukee. He will throw a live BP while the Bucs are in Chicago to play the Cubs. Underwood exited the Pirates opener after facing just one batter with a right hamstring strain.

Outfielder Greg Allen, who was placed on the 60-day injured list with a hamstring injury just before Opening Day, resumed baseball activities in Florida. The switch-hitter is hitting again from the right side.

Right-hander Max Kranick, who is sidelined with forearm tightness in his throwing arm, threw a side session in Indianapolis and will throw again later this week.
