On April 27th, the Pirates placed Kevin Newman on the 10-day injured list due to a left groin strain. During that time, Newman has been battling to get activated off the injured list. More recently, Newman’s rehab assignment was transferred to Triple-A Indianapolis on May 17th.

On his radio show on 93.7 The Fan, Ben Cherington mentioned that Newman had suffered a setback in his rehab process. “He felt something in his hamstring,” said Cherington. “We expect it to be more along the minor side of things.
