The Pittsburgh Pirates have completed their trade for Mark Mathias by sending right-handed pitching prospect Ricky DeVito to the Texas Rangers. The Pirates acquired Mathias from Texas for a player to be named later on Wednesday.

Devito, 24, was acquired by the Pirates from the Atlanta Braves alongside right-hander Bryse Wilson in exchange for reliever Richard Rodriguez at the trade deadline in 2021.

DeVito made his organizational debut with High-A Greensboro last season. In 35 games/six starts with the Grasshoppers in 2022, DeVito went 3-6 with a 5.40 ERA. He struck out 90 batters and walked 44 in 70.0 innings.

DeVito was originally drafted by the Braves in the eighth round of the 2019 MLB Draft out of Seton Hall University.

For his minor league career, DeVito is 4-11 with a 4.39 ERA in 52 appearances.
