The Pittsburgh Pirates were active on the waiver wire on Tuesday as the Bucs claimed a pair of players.

The Pirates claimed catcher Ali Sánchez from the Detroit Tigers and right-hander Beau Sulser from the Baltimore Orioles.

To make room on the 40-man roster, catcher José Godoy was designated for assignment.

Sánchez split the year in Triple-A between the St. Louis Cardinals and the Tigers. In all, the 25-year-old hit .262 with a .743 OPS, six homers and 33 RBIs in 74 games between the two organizations.

The backstop caught 34% of attempted base stealers in 2022 and has a 44% caught stealing mark for his minor league career.

Sánchez has played a combined seven games in the big leagues between 2020-21 with the New York Mets and Cardinals. He has three his, two of which are doubles, in 13 at-bats as a big leaguer.

Sulser made his big league debut earlier this season with the Pirates before being claimed off waivers by the Orioles in May.

In 22.1 innings between Pittsburgh and Baltimore, Sulser, 28, posted a 3.63 ERA/4.50 FIP with 19 strikeouts.

The Pirates drafted Sulser in the 10th round of the 2017 MLB Draft.

Godoy appeared in eight games with the Pirates in 2022 and went 1 for 17 with an RBI.

The Bucs’ 40-man roster is full at 40.
