Pirates Announce Seven Players For Arizona Fall League
Ben Cherington and the Pittsburgh Pirates have alerted the media on the status of seven players, and their eligibility for the Arizona Fall League. It is now official that Nick Gonzales, Roansy Contreras, Carmen Mlodzinski, Michael Burrows, Ji-Hwan Bae, Miguel Yajure, and Canaan Smith-Njigba will participate.
Joining the seven players will be current Greensboro Grasshopper manager Kieran Mattison and he will help manage the Peoria Javelinas. Having guys like Contreras, Yajure, and Nick Gonzales make up for the time they lost due to injuries this year is key for their development.
Of the seven, Yajure and Contreras are the only ones who have gotten MLB experience in their careers. Smith-Njigba ended the year at Triple-A while Mlodzinksi made an appearance in Indianapolis to end the season, Bae ended the year at Double-A and Gonzales and Burrows finished off their seasons in High-A.
All seven players rank in the Pirates Top 30 on MLB Pipeline:
Gonzales: 4th
Contreras: 6th
Mlodzinksi: 10th
Burrows: 14th
Bae: 22nd
Yajure: 24th
Smith-Njigba: 27th
