Perrotto: Top Prospect Status Not Enough for Endy Rodriguez (+)

BRADENTON, Fla. – The first attribute that stands out about Endy Rodriguez is his energy.

The 22-year-old catching prospect has a bounce in his step as he scurries around the Pittsburgh Pirates’ Pirate City spring training complex. He seemingly has a friendly word and a smile for everyone he encounters both on the practice fields and in the clubhouse.

“He’s a great kid who loves to play baseball,” said Pirates catcher Austin Hedges when asked his first impressions of Rodriguez. “You can just feel it.”

Though Hedges just joined the Pirates as a free agent in December, he has a good line of Rodriguez.
