PBN Around the Horn: Well, Franco Got A Big Deal, What Now?

Welcome to the PBN Around the Horn. Here you’ll find news and notes from across Major League Baseball, your Pittsburgh Pirates, and around the Sports Now network.
Well, it happened; the Tampa Bay Rays have shelled out some serious dough to keep Wander Franco for a very, very long time. Does this mean the Pirates will play Simon says and dish out a contract over 180 million? Eh, probably not, but it sure does get the water cooler a lot more chatty. If anyone is getting extended, it’s Bryan Reynolds, but with trade talks heating up, who knows.
180 million is a lot of clams, and sure, Reynolds seems like a sure thing, but MAN, is it risky for both parties. If Reynolds continues what he’s doing, he could get more, and if you’re the Pirates, that is a lot of money to give to one person. The key to the waiting game is to know how long to wait. Good talk; let’s do this again sometime. Anyways, welcome to Around the Horn.
