Pirates Prospects Notes

This week’s P2 articles have pieces from Tim Williams, John Dreker, Anthony Murphy, and Cody Potanko (Me).

First, Tim Williams delivers three excellent articles for your weekly pleasure. To begin, Tim gives us a glimpse at the 40-man roster guys in spring training and gives us some upsides. The next article discusses how the Pirates boosted their catching prospect depth with the addition of Abrahan Gutierrez. The last piece discusses how Pirates prospect J.C. Flowers is adjusting to a starting role.

The next writer in our midst is the brilliant John Dreker. John gave us two wonderful pieces to digest for the week. The first piece gives us a glimpse into the chances of Dominican Summer League players of making it to the majors. The last piece is an interesting one, and it deals with John’s interaction with former Pirates prospect Winston “Wink” Cole and the Pirates’ minor league development in the 1970s’.

The next writer is an extremely good friend to me and a co-host on the podcast, Anthony Murphy. “Murph,” as we like to call him, gave an excellent analysis on Pirates prospect Po-Yu Chen and the season he put forth in 2021.

Finally, we are left with my article at P2 for the week. This week, I looked at three “fringe” pitching prospects that could possibly have a chance to start long-term in the majors.

While you guys are at it, I strongly suggest you subscribe to P2 very soon! There are many interesting articles every week, plus daily features from terrific writers. Click here for more details.
