DECLINED: 11-Year-Old Who Found Paul Skenes Card Passes on Pirates’ Offer

The 11-year-old who found the Paul Skenes 1/1 Debut Patch card has declined the offer from the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Had he accepted, the collector would have received two season tickets behind home plate for 30 years, a chance to meet Paul Skenes, two Skenes’ signed jerseys, the chance to watch a game with gymnast and social media star Livvy Dunne, a softball game at PNC Park and a tour of Pirate City and LECOM Park in Bradenton.
Instead, the card will be put up to an auction through Fanatics Connect with their portion of the proceeds donated to the Los Angeles Fire relief funds.
Pirates owner Bob Nutting issued the following statement.
“We had a lot of fun with the idea of a bounty, but we couldn’t be happier for this young baseball fan and his family. Reading his story on how he pulled the card on Christmas morning, what a magical moment. That family bond is what baseball is all about. I would love to host him and his family and follow through with a meet and greet with Paul and his teammates, either here in Pittsburgh or when we travel to LA.”
Below is a reaction from the Pirates on Twitter/X:
Well…we’re bummed that we won’t be seeing you behind home plate for 30 seasons. But we’d still love to bring you to Pittsburgh for a special day at PNC Park this season 💛
