MLB Network Ranks Paul Skenes as Fourth-Best Starter

Although Paul Skenes has spent less than one full season in the major leagues, the Pittsburgh Pirates right-hander is already ranked as the game’s fourth-best starting pitcher by MLB Network.
The network revealed its rankings Tuesday night during an edition of its Top 10 Right Now series. The rankings consider players’ performance over multiple seasons, offensive and defensive metrics — advanced Statcast data and traditional numbers — and MLB Network research team analysis.
Skenes was the National League Rookie of the Year last season. After making his MLB debut on May 11, he had an 11-3 record and a 1.96 ERA in 23 starts. He also had 170 strikeouts in 133 innings and a 0.947 WHIP.
