Demilio: Luis Ortiz Adds Interesting Layer To Pirates’ Rebuild (+)

I get it. It’s only two starts and barely double-digit innings for Luis Ortiz in the big leagues.

Ortiz has barely dipped his toes in the major league waters. Even so, the emergence this year of the 23-year old right-hander adds an interesting piece to the Pittsburgh Pirates’ rebuild.

Since Ben Cherington took over as the Pirates’ general manager after the 2019 season, the Pirates have been rebuilding — whether they want to call it that or not.
