Lockout Update: MLBPA, MLB Agree on New Playoff Format

Published

on

Well, some progress has been made regarding the labor dispute between the MLBPA and MLB. Both sides have come to an agreement on the playoff format. Playoff formats might not be what the fans want to hear resolved right now, but progress is progress.

As it stands, both the N.L. and A.L. will have seven teams in the playoffs. The team with the best record will get a bye and advance into the division series. The top remaining division winner will get their choice of four wild card teams and play a best of three at their home park. After all that, the third division winner will follow the same process.
