PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh Pirates third baseman Ke’Bryan Hayes left Friday’s game with left shoulder discomfort. He is currently being evaluated by the team’s medical staff and is considered day-to-day.

When the Pirates took the field for the fifth inning, Hayes was not one of the players trotting out to his position. Instead, Kevin Newman entered the game at second base and Rodolfo Castro moved to Hayes’ spot at the hot corner.

Hayes was 0 for 2 prior to his early exit, but did make a couple nice plays defensively.

Hayes returned from the 10-day injured list just last week after being sidelined with a mid-back muscle strain.
