Pittsburgh Pirates right-hander JT Brubaker is expected to begin the season on the injured list.

Pirates manager Derek Shelton told reporters Monday that Brubaker is experiencing discomfort in his forearm and elbow. Brubaker has pitched 17.1 innings in Grapefruit League this spring, allowing 10 runs and 16 hits while striking out 26 and walking three.

Right-hander Johan Oviedo will likely take Brubaker’s place in the starting rotation to begin the season. He would join Mitch Keller, Roansy Contreras, Vince Velasquez and left-hander Rich Hill.
