Josh VanMeter Exits Game With Left Hand Discomfort

Josh VanMeter was shaking his left hand after turning a double play, and was taken out of Wednesday’s game in the sixth inning. The Pirates say that VanMeter is dealing with left hand discomfort and is considered day-to-day.

VanMeter has been having a strong stretch at the plate for the Bucs, and that continued with a first-inning RBI-single against the Dodgers. He now has hits in eight of his last 10 games, and is batting .333 (10 for 30) during that stretch.

VanMeter was replaced by Rodolfo Castro and second base, and Castro hit his first home run of the year, a two-run shot, in VanMeter’s absence.
