Joey Bart Comes Through Late Against Former Team, Leads Pirates to Another Win

Joey Bart got revenge on his former team, driving in the go-ahead run for the Pittsburgh Pirates in their 3-1 win over the San Francisco Giants at Oracle Park on Tuesday night.

The Giants (54-54) and Pirates (46-62) traded solo home runs in the middle innings. Willy Adames homered to put San Francisco ahead 1-0 before Liover Peguero hit a solo shot off Justin Verlander to tie the game in the fifth.
With the bases loaded and one out in the eighth, Bart singled home a run against Tyler Rogers (4-3). Peguero then drove in his second run of the game on a groundout to third.
Pirates starter Bailey Falter allowed one run in five innings. Braxton Ashcraft (3-1) provided three scoreless innings of relief, and Dennis Santana recorded his sixth save of the season.
The Pirates have now won seven of their last eight games.

Star of the Game
Liover Peguero homered and drove in two of the Pirates’ three runs. Those were his first two RBI of the season and first since last year on Sept. 25 against the Milwaukee Brewers.
