The good news? It’s guaranteed that the Pittsburgh Pirates will not lose today.

The Pirates have a much-needed day off after getting swept in a three-game series at St. Louis. They’ve lost seven in a row and have yet to win a game this month. They’ve dropped 10 of their last 11 and have fallen to an abysmal 12-26.

Looking at the standings, the Pirates are 10 games out of first place. They’re seven game out of the three teams tied for second place in the division. And they’re 10 games out of a Wild Card spot. It’s May 8.

As our John Perrotto wrote this morning, it feels like rock bottom. Both in terms of play on the field and everything that’s happened off it.
