The trade deadline came and went, and the Pittsburgh Pirates will have a different team for the final two months of the season.
David Bednar, Ke’Bryan Hayes and Bailey Falter were among the notables to get moved. Mitch Keller, Dennis Santana and three rentals — Isiah Kiner-Falefa, Tommy Pham and Andrew Heaney — all are staying put.
The Pirates made six trades in total. They mostly got back lower-level prospects and salary relief, which general manager Ben Cherington says will allow them to do some different things this offseason.
On top of it all, the Pirates kick off August against the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field on Friday night.
