Dave Parker is headed to Cooperstown.

Parker was one of two players elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame along with Dick Allen through the Classic Baseball Era Committee.

Parker, now 73 years old, played 11 of his 19 big-league seasons with the Pittsburgh Pirates, won the 1978 National League MVP and was part of the famous 1979 World Series championship team. During the 1979 World Series, Parker hit .345 with three doubles and four RBIs in seven games.

One of the most feared players of his time, Parker amassed 2,712 hits, 339 home runs, 1,493 RBIs and hit .290 during his storied career.

In addition to his MVP award, Parker was named an All-Star seven times, won three Silver Sluggers, three Gold Gloves and back-to-back batting titles in 1977-78. In addition to winning the 1979 World Series with Pittsburgh, Parker won the 1989 title as a 38-year-old on the Oakland A’s.

After his time in Pittsburgh came to an end, Parker signed with the Cincinnati Reds before making stops with the A’s, Milwaukee Brewers, California Angels and Toronto Blue Jays to end his career.

Parker becomes the 45th former player, manager or executive to spend part of his career with the Pirates and reach the Hall of Fame.

Dave Parker will officially be inducted on July 27, 2025 in Cooperstown.
